The title of this blog has come up in conversations with our clients recently, who cannot believe there is another bank holiday in May to celebrate the King’s coronation.

Already stressed about the state of the economy, the interest rate, cost of living etc to add in another day off, totalling three in the same month, seems like the straw that may break the camel’s back.

But despite these worries, many of our clients have mixed feelings about it all – they are worried about the items listed above but also recognise that taking time off is important for workers.

Firstly, it allows them to rest and recharge, preventing burnout and improving overall well-being.

Secondly, regular breaks have been shown to increase productivity and improve job performance.

Thirdly, taking time off can have significant benefits for mental health, providing a break from work-related stress and an opportunity to address any mental health concerns.

And finally, time off can help workers achieve a healthy work-life balance, leading to greater fulfilment both inside and outside of work. Employers should encourage their workers to take regular breaks and time off and prioritise employee well-being.

Business owners need this too! So, after the shock and worry of another bank holiday sinks in, deep down they are happy for some time off to relax and mentally recharge. Shame it will probably rain all day.
